Humanitarian Response Index (HRI)
To date, the most important self-funded project to emerge from our evaluation experience is the annual Humanitarian Response Index (HRI), the world’s first independent instrument for measuring the individual performance of humanitarian donors.

Disaster Risk Reduction Initiative (DRRI)
With the knowledge and findings gained from the Humanitarian Response Index and other evaluations, DARA has identified the need to reduce our vulnerability and exposure to disasters and has therefore developed the Disaster Risk Reduction Initiative (DRRI). As part of the Disaster Risk Reduction Initiative, DARA is developing a global Risk Reduction Index, to measure the effectiveness of risk reduction efforts. The Index will be piloted in Central America and the Caribbean to look at how effectively the countries of this region are acting to reduce the risk of disaster.

The Climate Vulnerability Initiative (CVI)
DARA is producing an annual report which presents the most up-to-date analysis on the human impact of climate change and highlights the necessary adaptive measures to reduce human suffering triggered by climate change. In this initiative, DARA works to support the Climate Vulnerable Forum, a partnership of seriously affected nations convened by the Government of the Maldives.
