EVALUATION

ACADE: Asociación de Profesionales por la Calidad de la Cooperación para el Desarrollo
Association of professionals working for development entities which promotes the professionalisation of the international development field.

AFREA: African Evaluation Association
African Evaluation Association was founded in 1999 in response to a growing need for information sharing, advocacy and advanced capacity building for evaluation in Africa. AFREA is an umbrella organisation for national M&E networks in Africa and a resource for individuals in countries where national bodies do not exist. AfrEA works with the national networks and committed donors to develop a strong African evaluation community.

Africa Gender and Development Evaluators Network
Established by AFREA and UNIFEM to work on gender and human rights based monitoring and evaluation in Africa. The network aims to share information, knowledge and evaluation resources.

ALNAP: The Active Learning Network for Accountability and Performance in Humanitarian Action
ALNAP was established in 1997, following the multi-agency evaluation of the Rwanda genocide. It is a collective response from the humanitarian sector, dedicated to improving humanitarian action through increased learning and accountability.

EES: European Evaluation Society
The primary goal of EES is to promote the theory, practice, and utilization of high quality evaluations especially, but not exclusively within the European countries. The goal is obtained by bringing together academics and practitioners from all over Europe and from any professional sector, thus creating a forum where all participants can benefit from the cooperation and bridge building.

IDEAS: International Development Evaluation Association
Association whose mission is to advance and extend the practice of development evaluation by refining methods, strengthening capacity and expanding ownership. IDEAS sees development evaluation as an intrinsic part of free, equitable and sustainable societies.

MandENews: Monitoring and Evaluation News
Website with information on processes, proposals, events, and initiatives related to evaluation.

Measure Evaluation: Monitoring and Evaluation to Assess and Use Results (MEASURE)
Since 1997, MEASURE Evaluation has worked around the world to strengthen the capacity of host-country programmes to collect and use population and health data. MEASURE is a key component of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

PPM&E: Participatory Planning Monitoring & Evaluation
Web site that offers key instructions for subject related to participatory planning, monitoring and evaluation. It also provides important resources related to evaluation- specific issues.

PREVAL
PREVAL specializes in methodologies for the design of M&E systems which target both management and impact issues, while simultaneously carrying out capacity building efforts. Its main objective is to enable the main programme stakeholders to develop their abilities in designing, using and documenting participatory, result-driven, impact-oriented Monitoring and Evaluation systems, and contributes to organizational learning for the benefit of the poor in the framework of rural poverty alleviation policies and programs.

SEE: Sociedad Española de Evaluación
The Spanish Society of Evaluation of Public Policies (SEE) has the goal of contributing to the development and implementation in Spain of the evaluation of public policies, programmes and projects, as a basic tool to improve efficiency, effectiveness and the social utility of public administration activities.

HUMANITARIAN ACTION

Central Emergency Response Found
The Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) was created in 2005, by the por United Nations, to promote and guarantee a timely and reliable humanitarian assistance to those affected by natural disasters and armed conflicts.

ECHO – European Commission´s Humanitarian Aid Department
Created in 1992, the European Commission’s Humanitarian Aid Department (ECHO) is responsible for the humanitarian actions undertaken by the European Union. ECHO plans, implements and evaluates the humanitarian aid of the European Commission destined to the countries that suffer humanitarian crises, due to armed conflicts or natural disasters.

ECHO Point System
The Point System of the European Commission Humanitarian Aid Department (ECHO) offers constantly updated information about the state members' contributions to Humanitarian Aid.

Good Humanitarian Donorship
The Good Humanitarian Donorship is an initiative of the OECD Development Assistance Committee members (DAC), which establishes a frame of reference of good practices and mechanisms for the promotion of accountability and transparency in humanitarian actions, according to the international humanitarian principles and laws.

OCHA Financial Tracking Service
The FTS is a global, real-time database which records all reported international humanitarian aid. FTS, managed by the UN Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), features a special focus on consolidated and flash appeals, because they cover the major humanitarian crises and because their funding requirements are well defined, which allows FTS to indicate to what extent populations in crisis receive humanitarian aid in.

HPCR: Program on Humanitarian Policy and Conflict Research
The Program on Humanitarian Policy and Conflict Research is an international research and policy program based at the Harvard School of Public Health. The Program offers a multidisciplinary approach to new challenges in the field of humanitarian affairs. Key sectors of activity include human security, conflict management and international humanitarian law.

The Development Assistance Committee is the principal body through which the OECD deals with issues related to co-operation with developing countries.

IDS: Institute of Development Studies
IDS is a leading global organisation for research, teaching and communications on international development. IDS was founded in 1966 and enjoys an international reputation based on the quality of its work and its commitment to applying academic skills to real world challenges. Its purpose is to understand and explain the world, and to try to change it – to influence as well as to inform.

IDRC: The International Development Research Centre
IDRC is a Canadian Crown corporation that works in close collaboration with researchers from the developing world in their search for the means to build healthier, more equitable, and more prosperous societies.

IISD: International Institute for Sustainable Development
Established in 1990, IISD is a Canadian-based not-for-profit organisation with activities in more than 30 countries. As a policy research institute, IISD engages decision-makers in government, NGOs and international organisations to promote a sustainable development beneficial to the global economy, the global environment and to social well-being.

INTRAC: International NGO Training and Research Centre
INTRAC is a non-profit organisation working in the international development and relief sector. INTRAC supports non-governmental organisations and civil society organisations around the world by helping to explore policy issues, and by strengthening management and organisational effectiveness.

OECD: Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development
Organisation with 30 country members committed to democracy promotion and the market economy. The OECD’s mission is to support governments in the exchange of their experiences and best practices, the search for answers to common problems, and the creation of joint policies.

ODI: Overseas Development Institute
ODI is an independent think tank on international development and humanitarian issues. ODI’s mission is to inspire and inform policy and practice which leads to the reduction of poverty, the alleviation of suffering and the achievement of sustainable livelihoods. To this end, it conducts research, provides policy recommendations and promotes debate on development issues.
