At the Clinton Global Initiative DARA Commits To Creating the Humanitarian Response Index For the Next Three Years
The commitment was announced at the 2007 Annual Meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative held in New York
At the 2007 Annual Meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative, Silvia Hidalgo, Director of DARA, announced our organization’s commitment to create the Humanitarian Response Index (HRI) for the next three years. The first edition of the HRI will be launched in November 2007.
Silvia Hidalgo presented the HRI as a crucial contribution to improve the quality of life of those affected by conflicts or natural hazards, due to its potencial to impact directly the donors’ humanitarian action. DARA’s commitment means the creation, for three years, from 2007 to 2009, of the first instrument to measure the humanitarian donors’ actions.
The Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) is an independent organisation that encourages institutions, companies and individuals to make specific, innovative commitments with measurable results. The HRI is a completely new initiative in the world; it end goal is to improve the effectiveness of humanitarian action and its results will measure the consistency of the donors actions with the Principles of Good Humanitarian Donorship.
Since its establishment in 2005, the commitments assumed in the Clinton Global Initiative have involved more than 1,000 organisations from over 100 countries.
