DARA’s 2007 Humanitarian Response Index will be launched worldwide on the 29th of November in London. Silvia Hidalgo, Director of DARA, and Augusto López-Claros, Project Director, will participate in the presentation. The event will include the special participation of Kofi Annan, former Secretary-General of the United Nations.

The launch will take place in the Royal Society of Arts in the British capital at 10:30 AM. The presentation will reveal information provided in the Humanitarian Response Index, the first instrument in the world to measure the individual performance of humanitarian donors. Both Silvia Hidalgo and Augusto López-Claros will present a detailed analysis of the results of this study, which examines the extent to which the actions of the 23 members of the Development Assistance Committee contribute to saving lives, alleviating suffering and offering effective responses to the real needs of people affected by crises.

The next day, the 30th of November, there will be a presentation in Madrid where the main contributions of this new initiative will be explained. At the event hosted by the Círculo de Bellas Artes, Silvia Hidalgo and Augusto López-Claros will analyse the implications of this initiative for the improvement of humanitarian aid.
